 MS Dhoni announced his retirement today

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian captain, said goodbye to international cricket yesterday, putting this information in an emotional post on his Instagram account. Dhoni was away from Indian cricket for the last 13 months, he played the semi-final against New Zealand in the last cricket match, World Cup 2019, since then he was out of the Indian team. However, now he will be seen playing IPL.

Dhoni retires as Indian cricket's most successful captain in limited-overs cricket,  he won three ICC trophies - 2007 T20 World Cup, 50-over World Cup in 2011 and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy - the only captain to do so. He last played international cricket during the semifinal of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in which India lost to New Zealand.

Dhoni has played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 79 T20 matches in his international career, in Tests, Dhoni has scored 9 runs in 14 innings at an average of 36.09, while in ODIs he scored 1043 runs in 299 innings at an average of 50. And in the 45 innings of T-20, he scored 1714 runs at an average of 37, Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 10 centuries and 43 fifties in ODIs, in Tests he scored 7 centuries and 33 fifties, and 2 fifties in T20.

Great records make Dhoni one of the best captains, it is very difficult to break those records.

1- Dhoni has won all the three major trophies of ICC under his captaincy, which includes the 2007 T-20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy in 2013.

2- MSD is the third biggest successful wicket-keeper, who has done out 780  players in 500 matches, Mark Boucher at number one and Adam Gilchrist at number two.

3- Dhoni has the most stumping feats, he has done 178 stumpings the most.

4- T20 is the most successful wicket-keeper, who has stumped 82 hunts.

5- Dhoni scored his first ODI and Test century against Pakistan. When he scored 148 off 123 balls.

6- Dhoni has another unique record, in which he scored 1000 runs without a century and half-century.

7- Dhoni bowled a total of 9 times, in which his first wicket came against the West Indies in 2009.

8- Dhoni is the first player to receive the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award twice in a row.

9- He is the most successful captain in IPL as well .
